The Administrative Faculty of the Year Awards honor exemplary administrative faculty who have excelled in their roles and made a significant impact at the university. Administrative faculty members can be nominated into four categories, and the four recipients will be announced at the Academic Achievement Awards Gala hosted by the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ president and provost. Recipients will also receive a $1,000 monetary award, a feature article in 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Today, a headline on the AFC website, and recognition at the Administrative Faculty Development Day.

Award Categories and Requirements
Rising Star
Nominees for the Rising Star category must be full-time administrative faculty members at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ who have been in their current position for at least one year and have less than five years of administrative faculty experience overall (by Dec. 1, 2024).
The selection criteria includes:
- Exceptional performance beyond initial responsibilities
- Exemplary attitude, teamwork, and customer service
- Outstanding support for the campus community
- Emerging contributions to their field of expertise
- Commitment to professional growth
- Additional noteworthy qualities or achievements
Operational Excellence
Nominees for the Operational Excellence category must be full-time administrative faculty members who have been at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ for at least five years and in their current position for at least two years (by Dec. 1, 2024). Those in non-student-facing positions are eligible.
The selection criteria includes:
- Outstanding performance beyond assigned responsibilities
- Exemplary attitude, professionalism, and teamwork
- Support to the campus community
- Significant contributions to their field of expertise
- Commitment to professional growth
- Additional noteworthy contributions
Student Service Excellence
Nominees for the Student Service Excellence category must be full-time administrative faculty members who have been at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ for at least five years and in their current position for at least two years (by Dec. 1, 2024). Those in student-facing positions are eligible.
The selection criteria includes:
- Exceptional service beyond the scope of assigned responsibilities
- Exemplary attitude, professionalism, and teamwork
- Impactful support to the student and campus community
- Significant contributions to student service
- Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
- Additional noteworthy contributions
Leadership Excellence
Nominees for the Leadership Excellence category must be full-time administrative faculty members who have been at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ for at least five years and in their current position for at least two years (by Dec. 1, 2024). Nominees must also be in supervisory roles and supervise full-time staff (i.e. classified, academic, and/or administrative faculty).
The selection criteria includes:
- Exceptional leadership beyond the scope of assigned responsibilities
- Exemplary leadership qualities, professional attitude, and team development
- Impactful support to the campus community
- Substantial contribution to their field of expertise
- Commitment to personal and team professional development
- Additional notable leadership achievements
Disclaimers
- Must be a current full-time 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ administrative faculty member at the time of nomination and have not won the award in the past ten years.
- Chief administrators of major units are not eligible for nomination. Chief administrators of the university include the president, executive vice-president and provost, vice-presidents, associate and assistant vice-presidents, vice-provosts, deans, associate and assistant deans, or their administrative equivalents, as well as members of President’s Advisory Council and Academic Leadership Council.
