The AIA Nevada Design and Service Awards Gala was held recently and among the many highlights, Professor Glenn Nowak was awarded the Silver Medal - the highest honor that AIA Nevada can bestow on an individual architect for lasting contributions to the theory and practice of architecture in the state. Jamie Centeno, 51勛圖窪蹋 M. Arch 2024 and current History of Architecture faculty, received the Student Award for her HD Capstone Project. The jury applauded this project for its in-depth research and thoughtfully executed typology studies. The Young Architect Award went to Wellbe Bartsma. Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects received the Firm of the Year Award. Many other alums served as lead designers on winning projects and several firms were recognized as "AIA NV Friendly Firms" creating especially supportive work environments for their interns and all employees.

Jurors described Glenn as a visionary educator who bridges the gap between academia and practice. His work in hospitality design education, particularly through curriculum development, has elevated Nevadas design discourse. One juror remarked, Glenns ability to connect theoretical principles with real-world applications has left a lasting impression on students and the profession.

Mentorship has been a cornerstone of Glenns career. From spearheading initiatives like intern career fairs to personally guiding emerging professionals, his commitment is unwavering. Testimonials from his references described him as a collaborator, a mentor, and a researcher who has profoundly impacted both individuals and the broader field of architecture.

Through decades of dedication to AIA at local and regional levels, Glenn has enriched the profession with his thoughtful contributions. The jury concluded, Glenns legacy of leadership and mentorship makes him a truly deserving recipient of the AIA Nevada Silver Medal.
