To our Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Human Services Students:

These are uncertain times for higher education, especially for those who come from marginalized communities. We recognize the challenges, anxiety, and confusion that recent executive orders and other directives from the new administration may bring.  In the face of these changes, we
want to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ).

  • Diversity enriches our perspectives and learning experiences.
  • Equity ensures fairness and access to opportunities.
  • Inclusion fosters a culture of respect and belonging, where every individual is valued and
  • respected.
  • Justice challenges and dismantles systemic barriers that hinder progress.

Until we are forced to do otherwise, we will continue to uphold and advocate for DEIJ practices and policies, ensuring that all students feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

As former 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ President Keith E. Whitfield stated earlier this year, "We celebrate and support every member of the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ community and we remain committed to excellence for all. Our differences make us stronger, and our collective understanding of the power of higher education draws us together."

Now more than ever, we stand together in our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable academic environment for all.

Lean into your joy, your loved ones, and the strength of community,

The faculty and staff of the Department of Counselor Education, School Psychology, and Human Services
