LAS VEGAS — Today, the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering celebrated its seventh annual Academy of Engineering Induction ceremony.

The Academy of Engineering recognizes alumni, faculty, friends and community partners who demonstrate the college’s values of education, engagement, inspiration and innovation.

The 2025 inductees are:

Distinguished Industry Partner/Community Partner Award:

Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award:

  • Jim Caviola, ‘94 MS Civil Engineering, 2021 Engineering Alumnus of the Year
  • Raquel Floyd, ‘96 BS Civil Engineering, 2024 Engineering Alumna of the Year
  • Lisa Freestone, ‘94 BS Civil Engineering, ‘09 MBA, 2022 Engineering Alumna of the Year
  • Piotr Tomasik, ’09 BS Computer Science, 2020 Engineering Alumnus of the Year
  • Justin Veilleux, ‘04 BS Computer Engineering, ‘20 MBA, 2019 Engineering Alumnus of the Year

Distinguished Educator Award

  • David James, professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction
