What do you hope your students take away from the classes that you teach?

In general, I want my students to have a broader perspective of marketing that is about understanding consumers and creating value for them to enhance their lives. I also want my students to have a wider view of products that they can market including sustainable goods, healthy behaviors, and smart ideas. Specifically, in my Marketing Research course, I hope my students learn the skills of asking good questions about their organizations’ marketing strategies, consumers, and even about themselves, appreciating diverse, good quality and objective data, analyzing data to generate useful insights, and presenting and utilizing these insights confidently. In my Advertising and Promotional Management course, I hope my students understand the crucial role of communication in marketing and communicating with consumers and other stakeholders in strategic and creative ways. Nowadays, I am getting ready to teach a Digital Marketing Strategies course to MBA students and I am pretty excited about it.

That you do not need to do it all by yourself. You will have your classmates, professors, staff by you so you can learn, grow, and thrive. A good example is the comradery of the AMA Student Organization.

Any Parting words of wisdom or advice you’d like to pass onto your students?

Think about what your values are. If you value health, create habits around good diet, sleep and exercise and do not work for companies that sell junk food. If you value meaningful relationships, spend time with your friends and create experiences for consumers that enable connection. Shape your life and work around your values, not around what is cool and what everyone else is doing. Your inner peace is way more important than how others see you.
