A reception honoring academic and administrative faculty who have achieved significant service milestones was held on Monday, Dec. 2, in the Lied Library Goldfield Room. More than 100 honorees and guests attended the reception, which included brief remarks by President Whitfield and a trip down memory lane from Provost Heavey of university highlights and world events from the milestone years.
The brief program concluded with a special tribute to Satish Bhatnagar, professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, who is celebrating 50 years of service to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. After a recognition by Provost Heavey, Bhatnagar spoke about his time at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and how the university has impacted him and his family, many of whom were in attendance. A recent article in 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Today also honored his 50 years of dedication to education.
Honorees received commemorative medallions or lapel pins acknowledging their years of service. Awards for those who were not able to attend the celebration will be delivered to their units for pick up.
