Telecommunications will implement a rate change for two services due to increased operation costs, effective July 1. The affected services are:
- Monthly unique extensions
- New rate: $17/month
- Includes voicemail without the option to opt out because the new Webex calling solution enables voicemail for owned extensions
- Emergency support fee
- New rate: $10/month
- Required for each unique extension
- Funds emergency phone support and maintenance
Telecommunications has taken proactive measures to minimize the impact of the rate increase on its customers as much as possible. These measures include:
- Reducing infrastructure expenses by transitioning to the cloud, saving 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ an estimated $500,000 over the next five years
- Reevaluating and freezing the rehiring of some vacant positions
- Limiting paid-for training and travel
- Renegotiating contracts with upstream providers
- Identifying and switching to resellers of new and refurbished hardware at highly reduced prices
- Implementing process improvements, which have already resulted in reduced labor charges for our customers
