The music technology certificate 1 provides students with the knowledge to use modern technology to record, mix and produce music in a variety of practical settings. It is designed for students that have a future in the music industry in technology who may not need a four-year academic degree program. The emphasis is on acquiring essential knowledge and practical experience to prepare, or enhance a career immediately in the industry.

Learning Outcomes
- Technical - Demonstrate the ability to operate Digital Audio Workstations and digital consoles used in the audio field for music, theatre, dance, film, video and multi-media productions.
- Production - Produce several examples of both studio and on-location recordings, the ability to conceive, organize, setup, and finalize projects for various media formats and multi-track setups.
- Creative - Demonstrate the ability to design and organize live sound reproduction events, including consoles, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, signal processing, cabling, and acoustic treatments.
- General Education Skills - Recognize the importance that audio, in its various manifestations, plays in the enrichment of people’s lives, particularly in the humanities and fine arts.
