Sport is a multi-billion dollar industry that requires professionals with a range of management and leadership skills. Through the Sport Leadership and Management Certificate students will be prepared to assume the responsibilities for developing professional and amateur athletes and managing sports programs in a variety of academic, public and private sectors. Career opportunities exist in intercollegiate athletics, professional sport, major sports events, community-based sport, community relations, and sports marketing, ticket sales, and promotion.

Learning Outcomes
- Develop a solid understanding of the sport industry and need for quality leadership and management at all levels.
- Gain an in-depth understanding of personal, interpersonal, and team-based skills—along with the concepts, models, strategies, and language—required to effectively manage and lead a sport program or organization and make a positive impact on regional, national, and global communities.
- Acquire the skills to create marketing plans and effective communication strategies to promote sport events, teams, and organizations.
- Learn how to apply critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills to contemporary challenges and issues within the sport context.
