If you are interested in a career in dance, the Department of Dance is among "the Best in the West" and exists in the center of fabulous Las Vegas, one of the fastest growing cultural centers in the United States. Entertainment industry employment and artistic opportunities abound in Las Vegas.

Our Faculty

The College of Fine Arts houses the Department of Dance. Eight full-time professional dance faculty, a rotating guest artist-in-residence dance position, and a dozen part-time dance specialists compose the dance faculty. The department offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Performance and Choreography, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance Production and Management, and BFA in Dance for the Professional as well as minors in Dance, Dance Production, Pilates, and Certificate in Pilates. 

Well-rounded Curriculum

A unique feature of the program allows students to train with equal emphasis in ballet, modern, and jazz dance technique, as well as other areas of dance. A wide variety of courses in Pilates, improvisation, composition, choreography, music theory, production, history, aesthetics, kinesiology, and injury prevention are required study for serious students of dance.

Yearly Concert Series

Numerous opportunities for student performances are provided with a yearly concert series. In addition, the dance program provides a professional performance environment for student performers. Students in this department perform choreography by internationally known guest artists and dance faculty. Production students are also a part of these performances, working backstage and participating in tasks that help run each show for a hands-on experience. All dance students are invited to audition for these performances.

Our Facilities

Current dance facilities include five dance studios with a student experimental dance theatre and performances scheduled in two concert theaters. A 4,500 square-foot dance studio/theatre with the finest dance floor available is in the dance wing, with eight faculty offices, an administrative complex, dance costume storage and production studio, and a 2,000 square-foot rehearsal studio. Live music is used to accompany ballet classes.
