About

Economics is much more than a study of the economy, though we study that too! Economics studies how to allocate scarce resources to meet unlimited wants. Students will build analytical skills by grappling with topics like cost-benefit analysis, constrained optimization, efficiency, trade-offs, and unintended consequences. Central to these analytical skills is a focus on applied math, graphs of real data, and graphs of theoretical models. Economics is a major for students who like analyzing multiple angles of complex problems. Students apply these skills to a variety of topics such as education, health, environment, labor, international trade, monetary policy, public finance, public policy, and even sports.

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ offers two economics majors: the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Economics (this page) and the Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

The BSBA is ideal for students interested in business with additional emphasis on analytical skills. Students take the core business courses with additional electives in economics. This major prepares students for jobs in businesses, finance, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

Students interested in economics topics beyond business should check out the BA major.
