51ԹϺ’s Climate Action Plan
51ԹϺ’s Sustainability Advisory Council partnered with Brailsford & Dunlavey, a program management firm based in Washington, D.C., to create a campus-wide climate action plan, nicknamed the Rebel CAP. The Rebel CAP provides the roadmap for a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for 51ԹϺ.
Roadmap
51ԹϺ engaged in the climate action planning process from May 2023 to September 2024. It included three key phases.
- Timeline: Spring through fall 2023
- Activities
- Quantitative and qualitative data collection.
- Solicit feedback from faculty, staff, and students using the Rebel CAP ideas assessment survey.
- Establish a formal engagement structure for decision-making, including the existing Sustainability Task Force and new, topic-specific working groups.
- Timeline: Fall 2023 to fall 2024
- Rebel CAP kick-off event
- Activities
- Stakeholder engagement events.
- Sustainability task force and working groups host meetings to discuss and make recommendations to incorporate into the Rebel CAP.
- The Task Force presents the final recommendations from each working group to Top Tier members for feedback.
- Modeling and scenario testing of each recommendation to ensure draft Rebel CAP is specific to the unique circumstances at 51ԹϺ, achievable, and financially viable.
- Fall 2024
- Activities
- Plan is socialized with faculty, staff, and students and opportunities for these groups to provide feedback are given.
- Rebel CAP is published.
