Dean Nancy Uscher

I am delighted to welcome you to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ) College of Fine Arts website! Our college offers an exceptional opportunity for students to discover their authenticity as burgeoning artists.

From my perspective, there has never been a more exciting time for artists – with many fascinating new careers opening up in our rapidly changing world. At 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, in the College of Fine Arts, students are exposed to the newest thinking and most important skills in the arts. We teach our students to actually invent their own careers and artistic lives -- with strong mentorship from our outstanding faculty. The integration of research and practice in one’s discipline, the ability to navigate within broad and interdisciplinary frameworks, the mastery of excellent communication skills and the encouragement of deep curiosity about life mark the distinguishing characteristics of the vital and progressive 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ arts education.

The artistic skills that students learn in their chosen disciplines are transferrable to numerous other career paths outside of the arts, as well. Students will learn to think creatively and with originality. These are prized attributes in our most successful 21st century entrepreneurs – and artists have been in the forefront of many important advances in society.

Located in one of the major entertainment and cultural centers in the world, the College of Fine Arts at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ has a strong faculty of distinguished practicing artists and research scholars who deliver to students a stellar education within an array of artistic disciplines, including Architecture, Visual Arts, Dance, Film, Music, Theater, and Entertainment Engineering and Design.

Whichever pathway students choose in the college, they will take pride in knowing that they are part of a notable College of Fine Arts community that cares deeply about its students and works hard to make sure that every single student succeeds. Graduates of our college will join an alumni group of more than 6,000 individuals.
