Arya Udry (Geoscience) and coauthors’ paper, recently was published in the Journal of Geophysical Research-Planets. This paper focuses on the formation of the rare Martian rocks measured by the rover Curiosity at Gale Crater on Mars that are enriched in silica compared to other Martian rocks. We suggest that these rocks likely formed similarly to intraplate volcanoes on Earth, such as those in Hawaii, the Canaries, or Iceland. This manuscript also was featured in .
