Bill Messier (Accounting) received the 2012 Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award from the American Institute of CPAs in October. The award recognizes full-time college accounting professors who excel as educators and have achieved national prominence in the accounting field.
In addition to his role at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, he is the PwC Professor II in the department of accounting, auditing, and law at the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen, Norway. The school awarded him an honorary doctorate in economics last year. He has served as the academic member of the AICPA's Auditing Standards Board and chair of the institute's International Auditing Standards Subcommittee.
