Dr. Buddha Dawn (Medicine) has been awarded a four-year, $2,127,634 National Institutes of Health R01 grant to study the effectiveness of using pre-treated stem cells to repair damaged heart tissue after heart attacks. In addition to generating novel molecular insights into adult stem cell biology, the results of this study may potentially lead to the formulation of innovative cellular therapies, which may improve the length and quality of life for millions of patients with ischemic heart disease and heart attacks.
