Hosted by the Cannabis Policy Institute at 51ԹϺ and Strategies 64, the first annual Cannabis Policy Institute Symposium was held on Dec. 5 inside 51ԹϺ’s Foundation Building.
The CPI Symposium featured a diverse group of cannabis policy experts, including Christina Dempsey, executive director of the Cannabis Policy Lab; Robin Goldstein, director of the UC Davis Cannabis Economics Group; Adriana Guzmán Fralick, chair of the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board; Joe Hodas, CEO of Wana Brands; John Hudak, director of the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy; Tyler Klimas, principal at Leaf Street Strategies; Chris LaPorte, managing partner at RESET; Gillian Schauer, executive director of Cannabis Regulators Association (CANNRA); and Marla Royne Stafford, Lee Business School professor of marketing and CPI research.
Panels included the “The Future of Cannabis Hospitality” and “Harmonizing Marijuana and Hemp Policy.” The event also hosted multiple presentations, including a review of CPI-commissioned reports, “Nevada Cannabis Policy Report," “Nevada's Cannabis Economy and Potential Impacts of Interstate Commerce,” "Cannabis Marketing: Challenges and Path Forward," and "Understanding the Rise of the THC Beverage Market," . The event was attended by policymakers, stakeholders, and esteemed guests.
