Jeffrey Ebersole (Dental) co-authored “Gene Expression Analysis of Neuropeptides in Oral Mucosa During Periodontal Disease in Nonhuman Primates,” which appeared during April on PubMed ahead of print in the Journal of Periodontology, the official journal of the American Academy of Periodontology. The study concluded anti-inflammatory neuropeptides and neuropeptides receptors could play a role in the unresolved infection and inflammation that normally drives tissue destruction in periodontitis.
