Louis Kavouras (Dance) and Katherine Duke, a Hawkins dance representative, performed "Early Floating," a modern dance classic choreographed by famed choreographer Erick Hawkins in 1961, at the Modernism Symposium at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's Judy Bayley Theatre. The duo also spoke onstage with scholars and professors from around the world. They were the only representatives for dance and 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ -- an historical event and honor for the department of dance. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ students also performed an historical Hawkins work with authentic movement, music, and costumes at the symposium.
