Melissa Stoffers, Gerilyn Slicker, and Jessica Ain (all Early Childhood, Multilingual, and Special Education) published an article, "" in Early Childhood Research Quarterly. This mixed methods study utilizing statewide survey and interview data explores factors that influence the enrollment of children with disabilities in early childhood centers across the state. Findings reveal the importance of factors such as disability diagnosis, state policies, demand, and qualifications of staff as early childhood programs make decisions about enrolling and serving children with disabilities. Findings have implications for state policies that could increase the enrollment of children with disabilities into inclusive early childhood programs.
