Sanford I. Berman Debate Forum, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's , won accolades at its first debate tournament of the 2014-15 season. Four teams represented 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ at the tournament hosted by the University of Missouri, Kansas City in September. A total of 114 teams from across the nation competed. Sara Beth Brooks and Dan Stanfield finished the preliminary rounds with a 6-2 record, defeating Stanford, Arizona State, and others. They advanced to the elimination round of 32 where they beat Baylor University, and then advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, losing on a close 2-1 decision to the University of Kansas. Brooks was ranked the 17th best speaker at the tournament out of 228 speakers. Matt Gomez and Alex Velto finished the preliminary rounds with a 5-3 record, defeating University of Kansas, University of Iowa, Pitt, and others. They also advanced to the elimination round of 32. The team of Roman Kezios and Christian Ogata also finished preliminary rounds with a 5-3 record, seeded 37th, defeating teams from NYU, Baylor, University of Kansas, and others. This fall 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ will compete at tournaments at home, at Harvard, and at Wake Forest.
