Inspiration
My previous career was as a social worker and community organizer. The law became a way for me to make a change from within the courtroom and take the fight from behind the picket lines to the courtroom. I often became frustrated because I realized my clients were trapped in situations because of the how the laws worked.
Advice
Take advantage of all the opportunities. We have an incredibly supportive faculty. Get involved early. Ask questions and find a way to make an impact in the community.
Memorable Moment
The appellate clinic had the most profound experience. I got to work on two ninth circuit civil rights cases — it was my dream job. And what I want to continue doing once I graduate. I’m leaving 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ with a passion to become a civil rights attorney and an appellate lawyer. I hope to work on corrections issues and criminal justice issues.
On Being a First-Generation Graduate
This opportunity means for me not only do I can explore a new frontier and dream as big as I want to but also that I have the responsibility of giving back to my community and helping lift the next generation of students and leaders.
