Parking -- everyone's favorite complaint on campus -- won't be so bad once 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ gets a new transit center. In July, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada received a $2.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to build the transit center on Maryland Parkway and University Road. The RTC made 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ a priority location for the transit center.
Several RTC routes currently serve the campus, though the various stops along the exterior of the campus can create long walks for students and faculty. The center also will reduce congestion during major campus events. Construction is expected to begin in 2011.
