For three decades, the United States has celebrated November as . The land our university sits on is the traditional homeland of the Nuwuvi, the Southern Paiute People. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank and recognize the Nuwuvi, including the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe and the Moapa Band of Paiutes, who have long called this region their home. We are grateful for their stewardship of this land for thousands of years over many generations.
Thank you to the students, faculty, and staff who identify as Indigenous peoples for being part of this university. Your voice, your experience, your culture, and your ideas are deeply valued and you are a vital part of this university and this community.
