As we celebrate Nevada Day tomorrow, I will be taking some time to reflect on what this university represents and who we are as a community. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ is recognized as having one of the most diverse student bodies in the country, which is a microcosm of the changing demographics in the United States. We are home to individuals from different ethnicities, cultures, identities, religions, and experiences. All of those differences are what make 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ â€“ and Southern Nevada – extraordinary.
To me, being one of the most diverse universities isn’t a tag line. It’s a point of pride, and it further challenges us to be the best university we can be for our students, our community, and our state. Our students have chosen 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ to create a better life for themselves and their families, and to make a difference in the Silver State. This makes me very proud because there is no greater honor than to be part of something that serves a greater purpose.
This Nevada Day will be particularly special for in our inaugural game at Allegiant Stadium. The Fremont Cannon is at stake as the Rebels battle the Wolfpack in our annual rivalry game. Here’s a big shoutout to our team for a Rebel victory and to keep the cannon painted red!
