Rebel Guide: 10 Tips for a Great Semester

There's a lot to do on campus — so much that 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ can become your second home. Here's your guide to navigating the campus and enhancing your college experience through 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's academic, professional, wellness, and technology resources.

Stay on Top of the Workload: Is that math class daunting? Don’t know which classes will keep you on track to graduate? The Academic Success Center helps students make it to graduation through tutoring, advising, and other support resources.

Get Involved: There's something on campus for everyone—from video games and epicurean clubs to volunteer programs and Rebel games. Visit the Get Involved website or stop by the fall involvement fair Sept. 2 at the union to discover our many student organizations.

Stay on top of key deadlines: The official Academic Calendar lists key dates, like the last day you can switch sections or drop a class without penalty.

Jump-Start Your Career: Start networking now for internships and jobs after you graduate. Career services can help link you to future employers and prep you for interviews. The Graduate and Professional School Fair will be held Sept. 30. And look for the job and internship fair for undergraduates later this semester.

Take A Load Off: Feeling anxious about the school year? Friends tired of listening to your relationship woes? The Student Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers both individual appointments and group sessions for free. Its clinicians are trained to help you work through problems commonly experienced by students of all ages and backgrounds.

Stay Healthy: The Student Recreation and Wellness Center offers multiple fitness and wellness programs. Meditate during a yoga class, break a sweat during spin, learn judo, or just relax in one of the SRWC’s massage chairs. Your student health fee covers gym membership and health clinic visits.

Catch Some Culture: 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ event venues cover all sorts of interests. Watch up-and-coming stars in a student play or world-renowned artists in a Broadway musical. Get tickets to the Runnin' Rebels or join the discussion with guest speakers. Check out the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Calendar.

Remember Safety First: 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Police Services officers patrol campus on foot, Segways, and bicycles to fosters open lines of communication. Visit its website to learn more about theft prevention, late-night campus safety, and other services. And be sure to sign up for the emergency notification system.
