As the pandemic continued, our communities endured uncertainty and worked to overcome the challenges that came with new safety measures. But as 2021 began to unfold, so did a new hope–the COVID-19 vaccine.
COVID-19 vaccinations began at the 51ԹϺ Student Union site on Jan. 11. As of April 2, nearly 87,000 doses had been administered at the 51ԹϺ Medicine site in the Student Union. It has primarily served emergency response, NSHE and CCSD personnel but now is open to all adults over age 18.

The Nevada System for Higher Education (NSHE) partnered with the Office of the Governor and officials from the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health on the vaccination effort. Students, faculty, and staff from 51ԹϺ Medicine, Schools of Nursing from 51ԹϺ, College of Southern Nevada and Nevada State College, and 51ԹϺ Student Health have volunteered to be part of the effort.
