Biography

Greenspun College of Urban Affairs professor Arthur D. Soto-Vásquez is an expert in Latino politics and media, studying the influences they can have on identity. He is an assistant professor of ethnic and equity studies, with much of his research involving online personalities, pop culture, Disney, consumerism, and right-wing online movements. 

Soto-Vásquez’s work has resulted in 20 published studies, covering topics such as disinformation during the U.S. Capitol insurrection of 2021, parasocial relationships developed from podcast influencers, and how social media platforms like TikTok can help us learn about life abroad.

He has authored books such as “Mobilizing the Latinx Vote” and “Migrant World Making,” and is a Chapter of the Year Award winner from the National Communication Association.
