Biography

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Greenspun College of Urban Affairs professor Matt Eichner has taught a variety of university-level journalism courses — from beginning news writing to photojournalism to editing and design — since 2011.

Eichner's research interests center around trust in journalism and sports journalism. His doctoral dissertation, "," theorized the role of student-athletes as media producers within the first iteration of the College Football Playoff and advocated for their compensation.

Prior to academia, the award-winning journalist worked as a reporter, photographer, copy editor, managing editor, and sports editor at newspapers across the Pacific Northwest.
