Biography

Micah Stohlmann is a professor of mathematics/STEM education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota in mathematics education with a minor in statistics education. While at the University of Minnesota, he was a research assistant in the STEM education center, where he worked on research projects and led professional development sessions. In his doctoral studies he received a 3M STEM education fellowship, a Haugo fellowship, and a Haugo dissertation fellowship.

Prior to his doctoral work he taught high school mathematics for four years in California and Minnesota.

His current research focuses on mathematical modeling, integrated STEM education, and professional development. He has a focus on developing curricular tools to help all students increase their STEM knowledge and at the same time develop valuable skills for their lives, including being innovative, technology savvy, good communicators, and synthesizers of information. Stohlmann also writes children's books with his newest books titled,  and .

He was a National Science Foundation-funded STaR (Service, Teaching, and Research) fellow. He has received five grants for professional development for teachers on mathematics education and integrated STEM education. He is also the lead instructor for students in 6th to 8th grade for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's Saturday STEM program. He has over 40 presentations and publications.
