“We’re so lucky to work with a number of local creative voices and perspectives as we explore this theme,” said Charlotte Wyatt, BMI’s associate director of programs. “I’m excited to see what insights and conversations the salon will inspire in BMI’s community, local audiences, and beyond.”
“At the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, we believe in the power of storytelling in all its forms—whether it’s through music, poetry, film, or fashion. Partnering with Black Mountain Institute to host Elevations allows us to celebrate the extraordinary talent in our community and offer our customers a space where creativity and culture can thrive,” said Kelvin Watson, executive director of the Library District.
Introduced in 2024, BMI’s Salon brings together unique and inspiring performances united by a central theme. The theme of Elevations poses several questions: what does elevation mean in Las Vegas, literally and otherwise? What is exalted, valued, or lit up, and what is overshadowed? From Lee Canyon ski slopes to record-setting summer heat in the valley, Michelin-starred restaurants to local food deserts, the dazzling heights of resorts on the Las Vegas Strip to rock climbers at Red Rock, we seek to explore the many definitions of “elevation” as they are lived and understood in our valley home.
