Marriage and family therapist Colleen Peterson has been hired to head the Client Services Center at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
Peterson, who began work at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ during the summer, came to the university from Shawnee, Okla., where she was director of clinical services for the Youth and Family Resource Center and an adjunct professor at Oklahoma State University.
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's Client Services Center provides a variety of counseling services, including support for persons facing marital difficulties, family communication problems, individual crises, parenting problems, career decisions, and other important life issues. Counseling is provided by graduate students in the counseling program, under the supervision of faculty members. The services are available to children as well as adults.
Peterson, who earned her doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from Kansas State University, has more than 11 years experience as a marriage and family therapist and is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
She has worked in Washington, D.C., as executive director of the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Fa nily Therapy Education and in Arizona as a marriage and family therapist in various contexts, including in-patient, out-patient, school, juvenile correctional institution, and private practice settings.
