Close to 100 mental health counselors, social workers and service providers from regional universities and community agencies (including 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ) will gather for a daylong training seminar to address the unique social, cultural, clinical and campus-specific issues affecting service members and veterans on college campuses.

Details
The federal Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) hosts training events at college campus across the nation to help campus veterans service providers identify, connect to and treat active-duty service members and veterans. Event topics include:
- Culture and experience of service members and veterans on campus
- Impact of deployment cycles and campus reintegration
- Overview of treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and introduction to prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapies
Colleges and agencies scheduled to attend include 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, UNR, CSN, Truckee Meadows and Touro University from Nevada; select California universities and the local Department of Veterans Affairs, Las Vegas Vet Center, Henderson Vet Center, Westcare Foundation and the United States Air Force.
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's and Student Counseling & Psychological Services coordinated with the CDP and its University Counseling Center Core Competency program to bring the training to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
