The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ food and beverage management department will sponsor an educational event focusing on the art of brewing beer Sept. 21.
The first BR51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ event will be held 1-6 p.m. in the atrium of Frank and Estella Beam Hall at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ.
Also sponsoring the event are the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Beverage Management Club and the Southern Nevada Ale Fermenters Union.
Local breweries and many award-winning homebrewers will provide samples of their beers. The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ food and beverage management department will offer foods selected to pair well with the different beers.
The event will also include the Fifth Annual Sheldon Jackson Memorial Homebrew Competition.
The event is limited to 300 attendees and is open only to people age 21 and older. Tickets are available in advance at Beer and Brew Gear, 4972 South Maryland Parkway, and cost $20 each. Proceeds from the event will go to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ beverage management programs.
