Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval will sign several bills to benefit higher education in Nevada. The governor will be joined by 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ President Len Jessup, members of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ deans, administrators and students.

Details
The Nevada Legislature this year approved several bills related to higher education. The governor on Thursday is expected to sign:
- Senate Bill (SB) 553, which includes $25 million for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s new School of Medicine and $1.75 million to fund planning for the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ College of Engineering’s new academic and research building;
- SB 548, which will establish the Nevada Institute on Teaching and Educator Preparation for elite teacher training;
- SB 457, which allows for student veterans to earn college credit for military education, training and occupational experience.

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ President Len Jessup and students and leadership from 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s School of Medicine, College of Engineering and Military and Veteran Services Center will be available for interviews following the bill signings.
