The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Department of Art has released its MFA program's exhibition schedule. This spring’s season features six solo exhibitions of artists exploring diverse mediums, themes, and identities.
The exhibitions are part of the three-year Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program, a studio-based and research-focused program with an emphasis on creative practice, interdisciplinarity, community engagement, and professional development. Throughout the program students conduct practice and text-based research, presenting their work in studio visits, exhibitions, MFA Open Studios, and group critique with faculty, peers, visiting artists, curators, scholars, and community members.
As the culmination of the program, MFA candidates present a public solo thesis exhibition project at the Donna Beam Gallery their final semester. The Midway Exhibition is an advancement-to-candidacy degree requirement in which graduate students present a public, solo project in the Grant Hall Gallery during their second year in the program.
The public is welcome to attend exhibition openings, artist talks, and to drop by when the galleries are open. All events are free and open to the public.

Bailey Anderson — EGAD !!

EGAD !! is a construction of the impending disastrous. Through paint, fabric, and cast metal, Anderson investigates the unmendable, and the moment right before, during, and after the crash. Inspired by spaghetti westerns and Wile E. Coyote, the exhibition combines the comical and absurd. Sexualizing the masculine and investigating the form of manhood, this show investigates the entanglement of masculinity and violence.
iKatie B Funk! — NOW YOU LOOK

Peering through multi-sourced lens in a cross pollinated practice,  iKatie B Funk! hunts the possibilities of a tender construction through deconstruction, always making certain to leave a light on down the hall.
