Norval Pohl, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's vice president for finance and administration, has accepted a post at the University of North Texas in Denton, where he will serve as provost and executive vice president, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ President Carol C. Harter announced Friday.
"Norval Pohl has had a wonderful tenure in several roles at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, and we will miss him," Harter said. "He has brought order, organization, thoughtful management, and personal integrity to the financial and service areas of an extremely complex institution."
Pohl's current plans call for him to remain at 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ for much of the fall semester, which begins Aug. 31.
Harter said she will be talking with university staff members over the next several weeks before establishing plans for a transition.
"This was really a tough decision for me," Pohl said. "I am very reluctant to leave 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. It is doing all the right things and is destined to become a great university."
Pohl came to 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ in 1986 as dean of the College of Business and Economics. During his deanship, the college joined the prestigious ranks of nationally accredited business schools.
He served as interim vice president for finance and administration during the 1994-95 fiscal year, and was selected by President Harter to fill the vice presidency the following year.
