, U.S. Senator Harry Reid, Governor Brian Sandoval, Samsung SDS, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ) representatives and other local, state, federal and business leaders will host the grand opening of the RTC 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Transit Center on Wednesday, September 4.
What
The RTC 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Transit Center will have its official opening on the campus of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ. The location of the center puts it within walking distance to key 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ facilities, including the Thomas & Mack Center, Cox Pavilion and various other 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ academic and administrative buildings.
The grand opening also serves as the official launch of the RTC's UPASS program, designed to provide attending students and faculty at three major public higher education institutions with a discounted transit pass. Additionally, the event will announce the upcoming new open payment pilot program called "TransitTap," of which the RTC has partnered with Samsung SDS to implement along the Centennial Express route. Samsung executives will share details on the newly developed technology and its potential to improve transit service.
