Nearly 142 high school students from 30 schools in Nevada and bordering states will converge on 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Nov. 13 for the annual Science and Technology Day presented by the colleges of Engineering and Science and Mathematics.
Participants will see lab presentations from 24 faculty representing the two sponsoring colleges, as well as the departments of nursing and health physics and the Sports Injury Research Center. The wide variety of presentations will include a demonstration of a quicksand tank, computer logic design, muscle and ligament function testing, identification of bacteria, a discussion of earthquakes and faults, nursing in the 21st century, and more.
Science and Technology Day, which is supported by the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Alumni Association and the Nevada Gaming Foundation for Education Excellence, introduces students to the facilities and practices of scientific research at the college level.
Gov. Bob Miller is expected to proclaim Nov. 13 Science and Technology Day.
