Paulette Tandy, an associate professor in 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's accounting department since 1989, has received the 1996-97 Alex G. and Faye Spanos Distinguished Teaching Award.
The annual award carries a $2,000 stipend. To be eligible, faculty members must have won a college teaching award. Tandy received the Outstanding Teaching Award in 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's College of Business and Economics (now College of Business) in 1991-92, 1994-95, and 1995-96.
She also received the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Student Accounting Association for 1992-93 and 1994-95. Tandy received the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Distinguished Teaching Award in 1996 and was honored as the Board of Regents Outstanding Faculty Member for 1996-97.
Tandy, who received the Ph.D in accounting and master's degree in business administration from Texas A&M University and the bachelor of science in business administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., has taught a variety of courses in auditing and accounting.
The Spanos Distinguished Teaching Award was established in 1981 and funded by a $25,000 endowment created by the children of well-known Nevada builder A.G. Spanos and his wife, Faye.
