Each year the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Alumni Association honors those who represent the ideals of higher learning and Rebel pride at the annual Alumni Association Homecoming Dinner. The following individuals are being recognized for their outstanding achievements and leadership at the university and in the community.
Alumna of the Year Award
Patricia Mulroy - General Manager, Las Vegas Valley Water District
The Alumna of the Year Award is the most prestigious honor given to an alumnus/a by the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Alumni Association. Mulroy, who earned both bachelor's and master's degrees from 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, is exceptionally active in regional and national water issues and has been recognized by numerous organizations for her humanitarian efforts.
Silver State Award
Bob Miller - Former Governor, Nevada
The Silver State Award is given to a nonalumnus for contributions to the university and the community at large. Throughout Bob Miller's term as Nevada's longest serving governor, he put forth budgets that tripled the funding for higher education. His commitment to continued learning has helped fund projects such as 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ student housing & dining, the Health Sciences Building, Southern Nevada Computing Center, Architecture Building, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Libraries, and the Boyd School of Law.
Achievement in Service Award
Jay Kornmayer - Executive Vice President, Wells Fargo Bank
Jay Kornmayer is being recognized with the Achievement in Service Award in part for his efforts on 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's behalf to improve internship and mentorship opportunities for students, find job opportunities for alumni, and increase giving to the university.
Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award
Alfredo Fernandez-Gonzalez - Associate Professor, Architecture
Alfredo Fernandez-Gonzalez is being recognized by the Alumni Association for his exceptional contributions to the academic community. Fernandez-Gonzalez serves as director of the Natural Energies Advanced Technologies Laboratory, which works with national and international research organizations to advance environmentally and culturally responsible design through the use of appropriate technologies.

About 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Alumni Association
The was established in 1967 as a not-for-profit organization to promote and enhance alumni engagement on campus. With an alumni base 90,000 strong, the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Alumni Association offers a variety of services and opportunities in support of alumni and their families. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ alumni are encouraged to support the values of higher learning through advocacy, involvement, and giving. To date, the association has contributed more than $6.6 million to the university in student scholarships, endowments, and major capital improvements such as the Alumni Amphitheater, Alumni Grove, Alumni Park, and the $2.7 million Richard Tam Alumni Center.
