51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) announced a partnership to co-produce one of the word's largest conferences on gambling.
Bill Eadington, professor and director of the UNR Center for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming and Bo Bernhard, professor and executive director of the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ International Gaming Institute (IGI) announced the 15th International Conference on Gambling and Risk Taking to be held in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace May 27 - 31, 2013.
It is the first time 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ and UNR will collaborate in the event. The conference will focus on topics such as online gaming, the future of Las Vegas and casinos in the U.S., gambling in Asia, gambling addiction and new gaming industry technologies.
The conference brings together academics, researchers, gaming regulators, health professionals, mathematicians, international representatives, policymakers, spectators of gambling and gambling enthusiasts.
Eadington is co-founder of the conference and started the meeting in June of 1974 in Las Vegas. The conference was last held in Las Vegas in 2000.
"Everything you want to know about gambling, you'll find at this conference," said Eadington.
Eadington said Nevada is at the center of the gaming industry's evolution as policy debates continue on legalizing sports betting, gambling and online poker and as gaming becomes more available on mobile devices.
Bernhard said the two universities have offered gaming education and training worldwide for more than 20 years worldwide. Having the conference in Las Vegas demonstrates the city's importance as an "intellectual hub" for tourism and gaming and a leader as gaming expands overseas.
A "call for papers" will be announced soon.
