For the first time in its history, the American Film Market and the International Film and Television Association will host the event in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of the world's largest events for distributors, producers, film makers, and marketers, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Film and the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA), have teamed up to provide academic credit Internship opportunities for qualified 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Film students to be placed with IFTA member host companies at the event.
Internship duties include work related to the acquisition, production, and international sales of motion pictures, television, and other entertainment products, including administrative work, live event and screening assistance, schedule coordination, public relations and handling of marketing materials, customer or client contact, and other general office work needed to conduct the host company’s business and legal affairs.
More than 50 interns have been vetted and selected and have begun the training process for the market.
According to Andi Isaacs, assistant professor and internship coordinator, "The AFM and IFTA are the lifeblood of the independent film world. There is no other event where distributors, producers, sales agents, and filmmakers can all gather in one place and discuss the state of the industry as well as the films currently being sold. Our students will have the incredible opportunity to sit down with these professionals, learn from them, and gain tremendous insight into the world of independent film."
