51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s premier Jazz Ensemble 1, directed by Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye, perform selections from its newest album, Dreamlike, at 3 p.m. on Oct. 1 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall. The album features pieces written and arranged by 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ music faculty, current students, and alumni — including the titular piece "Dreamlike" by Ricardo Arana and "Band-Aid" by Nathan Tanouye. The concert features special guest vocalists Laura Taylor and Don Cunningham and trombonist Isrea Butler, director of the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ School of Music.
The ensemble tied for first place in the Graduate College Large Ensemble category in the 2023 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards and its previous album received Grammy consideration.
