The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Performing Arts Center Season Finale welcomes 10-time Grammy Award winner Bobby McFerrin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17. No mere singer, McFerrin is music's last true Renaissance Man - a vocal explorer who has combined jazz, folk, choral, acapella, and classical music with his own special ingredients. In this solo performance, McFerrin treats the audience to his four-octave range and a vast array of vocal techniques.
McFerrin, a renowned classical conductor and the creator of one of the most popular songs of the late 20 th century, is a passionate spokesman for music education. His recordings have sold more than 20 million copies, and his collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Chick Corea, the Vienna Philharmonic, and Herbie Hancock have established him as an ambassador of both the classical and jazz worlds. Yet McFerrin's reach extends well beyond musical circles: he's worked with actor Jack Nicholson, comedians Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, the Muppets, and dance phenomenon Savion Glover.
Tickets to Bobby McFerrin are $40, $55, and $85 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office at 895-ARTS (2787) or by visiting 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏTickets.com. Student rush tickets are $12.50 each and available one hour prior to each event, based on availability and with valid student I.D. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ faculty and staff discounts also are available. A $.50 facilities fee, in addition to the ticket price, is charged on all Performing Arts Center tickets. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
