51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ architecture student Kirk "Kip" Barton has tied for first place in the International Student Design Competition sponsored by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture.
Barton, a graduate student in 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's School of Architecture, tied for first place with two other students. The trio will split a $10,000 first prize.
Barton's entry for the contest was titled "Affordable Housing in Las Vegas" and consisted of renderings and models. He did his work in the graduate studio under the supervision of Liza Hansen, assistant professor of architecture.
"We're thrilled with Kip's success," said Michael Alcorn, director of the School of Architecture. "The ACSA competition is the most prestigious student competition. Kip's first-place finish reflects his extraordinary design talents."
