51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ officials want to warn members of the public against falling victim to a scheme in which young adults purporting to be 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ students claim to be selling magazines to benefit the university.
51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's Greenspun School of Communication has received several phone calls in recent days from people who say that young adults claiming to be 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ students have come to their doors and asked them to buy magazine subscriptions to help support the communication school. In one twist, the young adult told a perspective buyer that the seller would receive a monetary bonus from the university if the buyer paid by cash rather than by check.
Neither 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ nor the Greenspun School is conducting any fund-raising involving magazine sales or any other type of door-to-door sales.
Most of the calls about the magazine sale scheme have come from northwestern areas of the Las Vegas Valley, including Summerlin.
