The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Wind Orchestra will present its first concert of the season, "Spirit of America," featuring Bellagio performing artist Dian Diaz, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7 in Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall on the 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ campus.
The concert, hosted by Channel 8's Casey Smith, will feature American folk classics, such as "Yankee Doodle," as well as pieces by Morton Gould, an armed forces salute, a salute to baseball called "Pastime," and "Elegy for a Young American," written following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
"Spirit of America" is dedicated to current 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Wind Orchestra member Ken Mancour and former member Randy Grant, who both served with the fighting forces in Iraq.
Tickets are $5-$8 and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office or by calling 895-ARTS (2787). Military will be admitted free.
