51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's telephone registration system, which allows students to register for classes by dialing 798-8658, is back in operation after being shut down since April 26 due to technical problems.
Students wishing to register for summer session classes or pre-register for fall classes may do so, according to Jeff Halverson, dean of admissions and records.
"The TOUCH system is back up, with new instructions for users," Halverson said. "Unfortunately, the system is a bit more cumbersome to use at present. We are continuing to work on it, but in the interest of making it available to students who wish to register, we put it back on-line as quickly as possible."
The new instructions require students to verify each class they add to their schedules by entering their PIN number. If a mistake is made by the system, it will reject the student's attempt to add the class.
"If a student is rejected by the system, he or she can hang up and try again, or come in to the Registrar's Office or call us at 895-3371 for help," Halverson said. "We are hopeful that there will be few problems while we continue to work on the system. In any case, we will take care of any problems students may experience."
Provost Douglas P. Ferraro said the university regrets any inconvenience the TOUCH system's technical problems have caused for students. He pledged to solve any problems created by the system.
