It's been three months since tragedy struck at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas when gunman Anthony Polito opened fire, killing three professors and injuring a fourth professor inside Frank and Estella Beam Hall. In his State of the University Address on Tuesday, 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ President Keith Whitfield and other faculty members recognized life on 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ's campus is not what it once was before Dec. 6.

Mugundan Prakash moved to the United States from India last July to complete his degree, and he couldn’t imagine doing it at a better place than 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ, he said. The 21-year-old graduate student, who majors in electrical engineering, has spent the past couple of months working on a drone that can test the soil of places affected by wildfires.

Dina Titus has chosen her special guest for President Joe Biden’s upcoming State of the Union Address. On Wednesday, Rep. Titus announced that she had selected 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ President Keith E. Whitfield as her special guest for the event, slated to take place on Thursday, March 7.

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ held its annual State of the University address on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at which President Keith Whitfield laid out his main focuses going forward. The 2024 address was Whitfield’s fourth address as 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ’s President. His contract was renewed on March 1 for four more years.
